Healthcare Utopia under a Marxist Light President B. Hussein Obama

This is posted at the Bluegrass Institute's Blogg but worth spreading around. Also don't miss their column on how high cigarette taxes help to fund terrorists.

Regulating Barack Obama's way to prosperity

Slate.com doesn't want Americans to buy health insurance across state lines. Their article rips Sen. John McCain for suggesting it would save people money. The article uses New York as an example of a state whose regulators prohibit insurance companies from giving discounts to healthy people. "If an insurer wants to sell policies in New York, the insurer has to obey New York's laws. Many states pretty much let companies sell the policies they wish, but others set a floor of protections. New York laws, for example, require that companies issue coverage to all new customers and not set higher rates for people who are already sick." After our 1994 disastrous experiment with "universal" health care, Kentucky no longer makes such a requirement on health insurers. In New York, a healthy 28 year-old male non-smoker can buy a $2000 deductible, 20% coinsurance, $30 office visit PPO for $361.54 per month. In Kentucky, a healthy 28 year-old male non-smoker can buy a $2000 deductible, 30% coinsurance, $30 office visit PPO for $45.68 per month. Uh, what was the question?
