Literary Review~The Last Patriot by Brad Thor

If you read one book this summer, make it this one. Brad Thor manages to combine a fast paced thriller, history lesson, and political commentary all into one great read. And his characters aren't bad either. I'm a writing style snob, so his style could use some work, but I rate it a 6 or 7 out of 10. Not bad.
Has he managed to create a new genre? Conservative, pro-liberty fiction? I don't know but I'm surprised he managed to get it published. It's not like there are tons of publishing houses clamoring to go to print with stories that are even the slightest bit critical of Islam.
Brad does a great job of combining fiction with just a sprinkling of fact to spice things up and make the reader wonder. And you will, I promise. Best part of the book is recognizing and separating real history from his fictionalized aspects of it. This book will definitely have you racing to Wikipedia to do your own research.

Boy, this is getting some good reviews. I'm going to put it on hold at my library, as I enjoy thrillers. Give Death in Small Doses a look as well, if you appreciate the genre. The forces for good are hunting terrorists in Washington and NYC -- and the Jihadists keep winning! THey've also smuggled radioactive material into a shipment of narcotics, so we have dealers and users involved, as well. Fast pace, good plot -- it's quite enjoyable.

Arghg! I think my comment was swallowed up whole. Just to reiterate my lost words ... This Brad Thor book is really getting good ink and I'm going to try give it a look from my library. I greatly enjoy thrillers, and this is a new author for me.

I also want to suggest another thriller, Death in Small Doses. Jihadists are walking the streets of NYC and DC, plotting death and destruction (including with radioactive materials smuggled inside narcotics, which brings dealers, users and the DEA on the scene.) It's fast-paced and enjoyable.
